Welcome to the 9th Kompanie, III Abt. Heavy Panzer Regiment, Großdeutschland Division
We are assembling a historical panzer unit for both "Tank Crew" and eventually "Post Scriptum". Our goal is to recreate as best we can the historical tactics and combat environments that will help us cross the void of time and peer out into the vast expanses of Russia through our panzer visor slits. Our members are serious historians and WWII buffs that want to do more than just read about these battles. They want to experience the nuances of combat from the inside of a tank. Panzer tactics which were a mainstay of the German Armed Forces especially in the early blitzkrieg months would eventually melt away to the realization that the Russians were anything but a pushover. The T34 tank was soon to be a dreaded word within the ranks of the Wehrmacht, and better tanks and tactics would need to be implemented to offset the seemingly inexhaustable supply of equipment and men the Soviets were throwing into the breach.
Our panzer regiment will utilize the same "Dead is Dead" combat system as our Air Wing currently has in effect. In fact, SCG is known for our adherance to recreating mission strategic planning and briefings, in additon to strict after action reporting. Die in that tank, and it's over for that particular persona. You start anew, just like the first day you clamored down the hatch of your tiger. The goal, stay alive, but support your kameraden and the mission objectives. Mission success is important, but staying alive, is equally and in reality...don't tell that nazi bastard over there, but MORE IMPORTANT!
So even though Tank Crew is still getting up on it's feet SCG Panzer Rgt. will be hosting our own missions and using existing online servers to slug away and push deeper into the Russian steppes. Well that's the plan, but the Russians might have something to say about that. As the Kommandeur of this unit I will be upgrading our training and awards programs. In addition, we have our mission designer, Herr Schneemann working hard on some panzer mission for us. In the meantime, I'll tell you something......watching 10 to 12 tiger tanks kicking up dust in combat spread formation is a treat in itself.
Our Unit will be comprised of 9th Kompanie, III Abt. GD, Zug 1, Zug 2, and Zug 3 and Zug 4, each comprised of 4 tanks each, with 2 tanks assigned to the Kompanie level for a total of 16 or so battle tanks. DetCord has created some beautiful skins for our unit which you can see highlighted in the photos I have posted.
So if you are serious about your simming and want to join our motley crew just go to our "enlistment" section and fill out an application. Don't forget to write a letter home to that significant other. You might be away from the Fatherland for a long time.....
